Catechism

          A Simple Catechism of the Catholic Faith

 

This Catechism Link seeks to present and explain, in an abbreviated and simple form, the teaching of the Catholic Church. Its aim is to enable readers to have a better knowledge and understanding of the saving work of Jesus Christ and to help them to live the Christian Faith.

It is intended to help young people to understand and learn the basic teaching of the Catholic Faith. It will help others who may wish to revise and renew their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Faith.

It can be used as a starting point for further study of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, on which it is based. The scope of the Catholic Faith is vast, so this Catechism simply attempts to present and explain the basic teaching of the Catholic Faith.

  This Catechism is arranged in four parts:

1. The Creed
2. The Liturgy and the Sacraments
3. The Christian life and the Law that governs that life
4. The importance of Prayer in the Christian life

These four parts are related because the saving work of Jesus Christ is:

1. the object of our Faith
2. celebrated in the Liturgy and communicated through the Sacraments
3. the help and guide for Christians in their daily lives
4. the basis of our prayer, and provides the reason for our praise, our thanksgiving, our sorrow and our supplication
